rebuild this team. The first year created an unrealistic expectation. They survived because of Taysom and Williams. The reality is that the team was lacking in talent and that demonstrated itself in the 2nd year. The best move Kalani made was to let go of his whole offensive staff and bring in Jeff Grimes. In just one year we were able to see a dramatic improvement in the quality of play by the offensive line, which was overwhelmingly comprised of Freshmen and Sophomores. That alone should identify that there was a talent gap.
We saw dramatic improvement in the quality of play by the offense. It was able to move the ball more effectively. (Okay, more effectively after Wilson was brought in.) This year the team is solid on the Offensive line. Really strong with the QBs, strong with the TEs, and now the running game looks like could be complementary. On the defensive side of the ball our DBs could have a huge impact. (Traditionally a weak point in the defense.) Our safeties look solid. Still some question marks with LBs but I think by fall camp we will have a better idea. The same with the D-Line.
This team has been slowly progressing. Getting faster and stronger. I am personally looking forward to this season. Especially with the home schedule we have.
