SEC takes from Big 12 and ACC; B1G takes from PAC and ACC

The Rose Bowl becomes the B1G championship game and the Sugar Bowl (or perhaps Orange Bowl) becomes the SEC championship game. Each of the B1G and SEC set up conference championship tournaments, starting with quarterfinals involving 6 division winners and 2 wild cards each. Quarterfinals at home stadiums; conference semifinal games in Indianapolis and Las Vegas for the B1G and in Atlanta and Arlington, TX for the SEC. The national title game simply matches the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl winners. It's the perfect solution for the college football powers:

B1G

  • EAST: Ohio St., Michigan, Penn St., Michigan St., Indiana
  • NORTH: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern
  • SOUTH: Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, Georgia Tech
  • ATLANTIC: Notre Dame, Purdue, Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers
  • WEST: Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska
  • PACIFIC: Stanford, Cal, USC, UCLA, Arizona

SEC

  • ATLANTIC: Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, NC State, Miami
  • EAST: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Vanderbilt
  • SOUTH: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi St.
  • NORTH: Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, PittWake Forest
  • WEST: Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa St.
  • SOUTHWEST: Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech

9-game conference schedule, 4 divisional games and 5 cross-division games; 2 OOC cross-conference games and 1 OOC FBS payday home game. You can stack the schedules to make sure that Alabama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, Florida-Florida State, Clemson-South Carolina, Notre Dame-USC&Stanford, Purdue-Indiana, and any other necessary rivalry games occur annually or frequently. And, perhaps favor more matchups between neighboring divisions.

And, there's room to schedule key cross-conference rivalry games like Georgia-Georgia Tech, Oklahoma-Nebraska, Iowa-Iowa St., Virginia-Virginia Tech, North Carolina-NC State, etc.

Only five P5 schools left out: Kansas State, Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona State, Baylor

Unfortunately, BYU is also left on the outside looking in.
