Max had a better career with a better team around him. Beck was the better QB. It’s easy to say, “Well Hall did great
right off the bat for us”. But he did that after Beck helped bring BYU back from the dark ages and Max inherited a loaded team.
If Hall had arrived at BYU in Beck’s place in 2003, we wouldn’t be talking about him being the winningest QB and how he had a better career. If Beck had arrived after an 11-2 season in the top 20 and got Upperclassman Collie, Dennis Pitta... Unga, Tonga, and Vakapuna all pounding the ball for him. His career would look different too.
Bottom line though, regardless of record or circumstance, Beck was a better QB.
