Thanks. Does BYU post this somewhere on the school's website?

What does 4.0 due to accelerated classes mean?
kotacoug

I'm sure they have a metric to consider the rigor of the classes taken but it is technically separate

Kind of. My senior daughter's weighted 4.6 is a 4.0 in BYU's eyes
unctoothman
1/24/20 11:06pm
That’s crazy. That means that 70% of her classes were weighted classes.
BYUCLA

AP and honors were weighted. Honors could get a 4.5, AP a 5.0
unctoothman
1/25/20 12:16am
Yes they don’t put any weight on classes. Whatever the score fore
kotacoug

only if it's all As. You can have a 4.5 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted

No that’s not correct.
BYUCLA

Averages are 3.87 unweighted and 29.5 ACT

She should also keep in mind that BYU has changed the admission process with ACT & GPA

I believe it's 6 essays if ones for scholarship apps are included. Unfortunately,

Why would it bias against thise with lower incomes/education? Genuinely curious

I’m sorry. Your contention is that ACT is less biased against low SES than essay

ACT is absolutely biased against low SES as well. That's not at all my argument.

BYU has a 50% acceptance rate and is about the 80th ranked school in the country. The pressure to get into BYU is

I think the pressure to get into BYU might be greater.
BYUCLA

Getting into BYU is a layup compared to getting into an IVY. And... BYU-I accepts nearly 100% of applicants.

True, but I wasn’t saying BYU is harder to get into.
