That’s high, but of course scarcity of workers might be part of the problem. We retiled most of our downstairs last

May. There was some painful removal because one of the previous owners tiled over the top of other tile and created some problems where our subfloor had rot problems. We did about 1500 sq feet with removal, fixing the problems and a high quality tile for about 8k.

We paid about $10k for carpet and laminate for maybe 1800 sq ft

We did carpet with Home Depot and no problems. Sorry you had a bad outcome.

I’d say $3+ per square foot just for install labor. So depends on tile.

Depends on if you want the cabinets on top of the tile or not. Ours are not.

I didn't remove the cabinets, made sure the tile was up to the under part of the toe guard & sealed off with the grout.
