I imagine some of you were there. Jr Jazz, I'm thinking 10th grade. At Lakeridg. My team was decent. The team we were
Playing was full of tough guys, who thought they were cool, and they had good players. one of them was my old best friend.
Anyway before the game one of the kids on their team was in my class talking trash, about kicking our butts. Me, being tiny couldn't say much, just said 'Yea, we know we'll lose, but hopefully it'll be fun.'
One of my teammates had the game of his life. Scored like 40 points from the same left junction every time. It was awesome!
Anyway, with seconds left in game and we were ahead by 10 or so suddenly the crowd comes onto the floor and said that nobody is leaving, I guess they wanted a throw down.
Obviously the crowd didn't care about refs and were making a scene. Cops were called.
I went up to my old best friend and said, 'I'm leaving.'
He said "OK" and then the whole situation fizzled.
I could not wait to see that kid in my class the next day.
To his credit he said "Good game." While Obviously not happy.
