SoCal, 1977-ish regional juniors game at Banning HS ended in a brawl among
a few players and spectators. A good friend of mine was playing and was ambushed right after the game, suffered a broken jaw, and had to have his mouth wired shut for a few weeks. Lots of other fighting going on in the stands with half the people wanting to mix it up and the other half trying to calm things down.
There is more to the story, but for a different audience. Basically, the winning team was from a laid-back surfer coastal ward and the losing team was from an inland rugby-loving ward. The surfers won a close one and the rugby types didn't like it.
