Maybe my company is unique (fortune 50), but we hire a ton externally
For entry level roles, but the further you move up the more roles are filled from within. So most the the executives and senior leadership have been with the company 10+ years, some closer to 25. We do have some high level external hires, it's just rarer.

Are other companies constantly hiring Sr Director, or VP level roles? It seems like once you reach a certain level job hopping every few years would hurt career growth. I kinda feel like a lot of people who jump around early in thier careers will do better salary wise initially, but finding the right company to stick with and then move up into leadership is the best way to make big money later in your career.
