investment banking friends. They talked like bankers. Lots of f words but nothing out of the ordinary for them. That’s just the language of NY finance.
The guy sitting in front of us was with his middle school aged son. He politely turned around and asked my friends if they wouldn’t mind not cursing around his son.
My banking friends were very apologetic and did their best throughout the game not to swear. They slipped a few times out of habit and apologized each time.
This wasn’t about religion. It was about respect.
At our high school football games here in Texas, I sit with a group of dads (none are LDS) who all have players on the team. Our wives sit near us along with some of our younger kids. There’s some occasional swears but never loud enough for the wives or kids to hear. Again, it’s about respect.
