No. Just the opposite. Utah is no where near a blue blood. They're not even mid-tier P5. But the strange
delusion of BYU fans comes from this expectation that Utah has to beat every blue blood they play and should feel disappointed if they don't make the playoffs every year.

I believe that is crazy. That almost any Utah peer — BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, SDSU, Oregon State, WSU, Cal, ASU — would kill to have Utah's success in the CFP era.

Most of those programs aren't even close to Utah right now. It's a credit to Utah.

To BYU fans, the delusion is how they're now mocking Utah for not being Georgia. Somehow there is shame in winning at FL, vs. Ohio State, or even vs. Penn State. Even with QB1 going down. And even after beating top 5 teams on a national stage...it's always a disappointment.

It's a strange world. i find it fun and entertaining bc it lacks such awareness...but I do think it plays into faulty expectations going into the B12.

A lot of the naivete comes from misperception of the 9/10 wins seasons in the Lavell era. Where BYU was the best program in the WAC and — to their credit for getting their and for winning — therefore assuming schools like Utah should dominate their conference as well.

I don't think BYU fans genuinely understand the difference in talent, resources, coaching, etc that these better schools have...and how difficult it is to win on the road. It'll be eye opening.
