It's a delusional base. Utah for example
should be 6-6 or 7-6 every year. A lower or mid-tier school that barely got into the P5. All of the peers in the south had more history, resources, better brands and better recruiting destinations with maybe one exception.

For Utah to be dominant in the south is exceptional.

Then you add Oregon, UW, Cal and Stanford from the north. Same story.

Since the CFP era, Utah is the winningest program in the west with the most consistent rankings. 9-win seasonal average.

That's consistency that no one outside the blue bloods seem to be playing at. They shouldn't be winning more — like you say. They should have rebuild programs or 1-2 losing seasons after they lose talent to the NFL — like every other non blue blood school.

BYU fans just remember their highest peaks over 30 years and hold Utah to those standards every year.

They forget BYU was the cream of the WAC. More talent, more resources, etc. Now they brag about that era, but back then 10-3 seasons were a disappointment because BYU fans were superior to almost every one on their schedule.

They're holding Utah to that standard as if USC, UCLA, Florida, Ohio State, ASU, Oregon, Penn State etc. were all inferior to Utah — or even on the playing field...similar to how Colorado St., AFA, New Mexico were with BYU.

It's not practical.
