Some people, rightly so, don't feel comfortable or safe driving 80 mph.

True. But FIFTEEN under the speed limit? At least go 70, 75...
BlueBlood94
Apr 28, 1:54pm
Nah, if they’re going that much slower, they’re being unsafe. If you don’t want to drive that fast, don’t drive
RealTaysomHill

Yep. Going too slow impedes traffic and creates risk.
BlueBlood94

Exactly. They are making it unsafe for others. If you don’t feel comfortable

Those people shouldn’t be on the freeway, ever

That'd make me nuts. Maybe offer to spell him off driving? Probably not comfortable w/ that having just met them.

When you stop for gas, grab a Dew and intercept him upon him opening the door

Offer to drive the next leg

Really? Does that improve MPG? Or just disincentivize driving?

In general, 55 is more fuel efficient than 85

Interesting, I didn't know that.

Air resistance increases exponentially with speed. My off road LX470 can barely sniff 15mpg @ 80mph yet I’ve seen 20

Did you think it took less energy to move something faster?
molodyets
Apr 28, 4:08pm
It appears that's the case, otherwise the sweet spot would be less than 55.

As an aside, we’d love to hear how you ended up in a 7-hr carpool with strangers

Are the carpools mandatory or something? This is as weird to me as sharing a hotel room on a business trip

Yes, google says it’s illegal to drive at a speed that holds up traffic

I imagine they aren't holding up much traffic on a 7-hr. Stretch of hwy.

In my mind 65 in an 80 provides a safety risk. Cars come up from behind and have to quickly slow down and change lanes
