were pretty much limited to "BYU" labeled gear. Use of the stretch Y logo that is almost ubiquitous now, was VERY limited......I know because that is the gear I wanted back then and could not really find. Just about everything they sold was stuff labeled "BYU".
The comparison in sales based on what was available then in royal blue and what is available now in navy is not a true apples to apples comparison.
And as I noted in another post on this thread, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and Florida all do extremely well selling royal blue......in MLB the Dodgers and Cubs are up there in sales.....in the NBA the Carmelo has one of the top selling jerseys with Curry right behind him (both teams use royal blue).......in soccer there's Chelsea.
It's pretty hard for me to believe that all of those organizations are leaving money on the table because of a brighter shade of blue.
