From the other angle, as it relates to Utah, it seems like outsiders often
appreciate what makes Utah unique: relatively low crime rates, hard work, LDS culture, but then want to change it so it is like everywhere else. There are good and bad parts of LDS and Utah culture and I am fine discussing them. Some are praiseworthy, some are worthy of condemnation. At the same time it doesn't hurt to point out: if you want this, why don't you just get what you want. If you want California, move to California. If you want different doctrine, find different doctrine. Or don't. You can't fault people for not wanting others to change the culture if your locality or faith.
