When you take the job as defensive coordinator with a fan base as big as BYU you do it knowing that if things don't go right you are going to take a lot of heat publicly from a passionate fan base. That's the job and like they say, if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.

Fans aren't attacking the guy personally, they are calling into question his ability to EFFECTIVELY coach a defense. That's all.

Nick did not take responsibility a single time during that interview but chose instead to lay 100% of the blame on his players. To me that is far worse than the fans calling him out as d coordinator.
