Right down to cleaning it regularly and polishing the raised lettering on my valve cover.

I hate my filter dripping oil everywhere. I'll turn the filter with my bare hand just to crack it loose. Then I put my hand in a plastic grocery bag, grab the filter, and invert the bag over the filter. I then unscrew it and it comes off inside the bag, which I throw away. Usually catches all but a few drops of oil.
