I got a letter today from the Utah State Tax Commission
It said that I didn't file a state return for 2010... Of course I start racking my brain thinking where was I working in 2010, where was I living, etc etc etc. 5 years seems like an eternity ago. Anyways I got on my tax website and pulled up my return for 2010, and saw that I had only filed Federal. It took me a second to realize why.

In 2010 I was working for a company based out of Utah, but I was working for them in Nevada, and living in Nevada. Thus, I didn't file a Utah tax return, and Nevada has no state tax. However, when I filed my return for 2010 (in March of 2011) I was then living in Utah. I had moved there in January. So on my federal return I had my current St. George address listed...

Could that be the reason Utah thinks I owe them money? Did I do anything wrong, you tax accountants/lawyer experts?
