I filed quite a while ago. Got my Federal refund about a month ago. Still haven't gotten my Utah refund. This was a letter asking me to prove my identity in order to combat fraud. What the... I lived in the same house for 6 years, filed with the state the same way for 6 years, had the refund sent to the same checking account for 6 years. Why would they think this is identity fraud?
My gut tells me that they just want to sit on money as long as possible. Otherwise, why not send out the request a month ago?
