The real answer is Exum...they will give him at least one and probably two more
years to see if he can develop into the right player to lead the team to contention. The rest of the core is young enough that they can afford to wait, and actually, SHOULD wait.

If you were to try to accelerate the run to contention, you would only want to deal for a PG who is still going to be in his prime when Favors, Gobert, and Hayward reach their primes in about 3 years - that means that you don't want to get anyone who is probably older than 27-28. That leaves you with very few attractive candidates who are A) young enough that they fit with your core, and B) on a team that would be willing to deal them. For example, John Wall, Damon Lillard, and Jeff Teague are the perfect age, but there's no way in Hades that their teams would trade them away. On the other hand, I could see a scenario where the Jazz could craft a deal for Kyle Lowery, but he's 29, and would be on the decline when the rest of the core were hitting their prime.

One guy who might work is Ty Lawson. He's a guy who's a step below All-Star level, but still very good, and he's only 27. I don't get the feeling that anyone on the Nuggets is untouchable, so he can probably be had. I certainly am not ready to give up on Exum for Ty Lawson, but maybe I'm in the minority.
