Here in the middle of SEC country where everyone west of the Mississippi is kind
of disregarded, Utah gets more respect than BYU because they are a PAC team, and because they have more memorable signature wins in the past decade than BYU.
People don't care if BYU is on tv more because everyone is so busy watching the SEC CBS or ABC or primetime ESPN SEC games that no one really cares about who is on ESPN2 at 10pm or on Friday night when they are at the local highschool football game.
