And we are left on the outside looking in, I think we will start looking like a Navy or Air Force team. We will have even more trouble than we already have recruiting top athletes but we will still get the occasional LDS star, we will have hard working (and hopefully disciplined) players, and we will occasionally pull off a big upset. Fans will in general expect less of the team, so losses won't hurt as much, and the games will be fun to go to and watch. I think the most painful part of being a BYU fan is that we always seem to be poised to take the next step but we never do. At least once the realignment is complete, we will know where we stand. I'll always enjoy watching BYU play. I won't be quite as invested into BYU football, but I'm still going to enjoy it as long as I can, and I'll go to the away game when they come to my state.
I hope we find a spot in the P5, but if not, I'll be less invested, losses will be less painful, and I'll just enjoy watching BYU play.
