Here is why I like reciprocal ignore
I don't want to have 80 people on my FO list. I like to pick a handful of people and have meaningful exchanges with them, and follow their posts closely. 80 people is too many for me. I can't keep up.

I don't do a lot of FO posting, and the only thing I find it useful for is if I want to tell a handful of people something and don't want the entire world to know. I think 80 people is too many for that too.

On the other hand, since I am on the board very often, reciprocal ignore allows me to have a FO benefit (of excluding nimrods) and not limit the discussion to a handful of people on my FO list.

In this narcissistic world of CB that we live on, I think my posts are pretty cool and gain some satisfaction by excluding the idiots. I also think it has a behavioral incentive that BYUMizzou alludes to.

For the record, I have never seen you do anything that would motivate me to put you on reciprocal ignore.
