It's not just high school sports
There are many areas of the country where youth sports are played on Sunday. If you want your kids to have that experience then you have to make a compromise.
I know families that had a time on Saturday where they would focus on the spiritual to make up for what was lost on Sunday. Others treated the Sunday sport as a family event and all family members were required to attend. It's really up to the individual families to make the decisions in this regard.
Also the church employs people that work on Sundays.
