Bought new irons this year, of course they hit further!
When I compared the angles on my new irons to my old Titleist DCI's, the new irons are one club steeper on the slope angle.
Of course I now hit my 8 iron the same distance as my old 7, my new p-wedge same as my old 9 etc. You'll notice that a 3 iron is no longer offered in most new sets because the new 4 iron is virtually the same as the old 3.

This is the gimmick that club producers are pulling off and now it makes sense how tour players hit a p-wedge 155 and greater.
