As I explaned below, I thought their concern with Deregulation was exactly this - it would allow a conference to pair two top-teams, regardless of division, and thereby ensure one of them gets into CFP. I suppose they could pair the BEST team against a patty-cake to ensure a victory - - - but recent history suggests beating a patsy is likely to harm you more than help you.

So, why don't 12+ team conference just let 10 team-no-division conferences hold a CCG? What are the scenarios they don't like?
