I think they don't like the scenario where they could pick two teams that based solely on how they are ranked
by the playoff committee. For example, say Baylor and TCU and Texas all tie with one loss each. Texas has beat both Baylor and TCU, say early in the season, but then had injuries and dropped a game to lowly Iowa State at the end of the year. Since their loss was late to a bad team they drop to 15 in the polls. Baylor and TCU, although having lost early have somehow made it back up into the top 5 or 6. The Big 12 pairs those two teams because they have a better chance of getting in.....although the argument could be made that Texas should be included by beating both. I guess they don't like the chance they could pick the best 2nd place opponent. Is it a possible issue...yeah. Likely....nope!

I think it comes down to the perception that the 12 and 14 team leagues are more difficult fairly or not.

Personally I wish the Big 12 would just expand. It would be more fair, plus it would be cool to see BYU back in it. It would be great to have Utah represented in two major P% leagues.
