Allowing the Big 12 to have a championship game gives them a leg up on other leagues, because the No. 1 v. No. 2 in the Big 12 (which will likely also be the highest rated in the CFP poll) will always play each other, while there will be years when the SEC would rather have Alabama play someone like LSU in the championship game, but they can't do it, because Florida won the east and Alabama won the west.
