to follow imo. But couldn't disagree more re conferences & TV $. Tv $ & chasing that buck has created a frenzy of greed & damage to the very fabric of what makes CFB great.
But the general direction of separation of haves & have nots is on a more extreme trajectory than ever. BYU as Indy has always been plan B, & importance of conf affiliation is, & will be more vital than ever. Past history means less & less, and viability of programs rides more & more on it.
I think some continue to either downplay & dismiss how dire it will become re true chances of being a top 25 program w real seat at the table. It seems many CBers who initially believed Indy was viable to accomplishing these things have come back to earth, & last 2 yrs have seen our reality as it is.
I applaud all the great work done to make Indy a success. But, the sooner we see the urgency for conf affiliation, the better. The extra push, beyond what I'm sure is taking place, can only help get over the hump. A big chunk of fans overly optimistic & satisfied w status quo as acceptable doesn't add to that extra fire needed.
I'm by no means saying you're hurting the program, as its a function of your loyalty & support of BYU. I do think your optimism isn't grounded in reality, despite all the good points made, many I agree with. Not a crapping my jean shorts & sandals w socks(you do not wanna see my toes) "sky is falling" type, but it's def go time.
Our new staff & direction will provide the wins, & the rest will take care of itself. But, a little cage rattling might be more motivation to those at the top, as opposed to confident satisfaction.
