My brother and I have been kicking around a "solar barn raising" non-profit idea
You could buy in bulk to get good prices, every person is expected to serve on an install before and after their own. People who can't contribute install labor (e.g. invalid, handicapped, etc) could develop expertise in permitting and such to contribute. The non-profit would also probably provide some liability insurance and safety equipment.

What do you think?
