since they have actually since been placed in the hall of fame, and current players obviously have not.
If it actually is true (which I think you've shown it's not), it might be due to young players displacing the older guys earlier now than in the past. Guys like A-Rod, Pujols, Ichiro, Beltre, Mauer, Wright, Verlander have at least decent chances, but they are no longer making all star games. In the past, stars would reach perennial all star status at some point.
I also hate to think that Ortiz is a shoe-in. Barf.
