I got around the 5/24 rule and was "recommended for approval", but final
decision is 1-2 weeks.

I was initially denied because of too many cards opened. I have 5 new cards on my credit report in the last 24 months, but 2 of them were as an authorized user for cards my wife signed up for. I asked her about this and she said that authorized user cards do count towards the 5 card limit, but if I wasn't using those cards any more she could take them off. My wife actually closed both of those cards last week, so I told her those accounts were closed. They reprocessed the application and she said she was "recommending the application for approval", but that it needed a routine final approval from the credit approval department, which takes 1-2 weeks.

Just FYI, if you get denied because of 5/24 and you are an authorized user, you may be able to get around it.
