His post and many others brings up good points about how awesome the players are and the sacrifices they make, same with the coaches although them getting paid (considerable amounts even makes me feel less bad). I love the players and coaches but I also love all the fans even the nutters and negative nancies.
I do disagree with players or other fans telling fans how to fan and what's allowed or not allowed. And it's not at all true that fans have given nothing, I paid $3600 in tickets this year and over $1000 in CC donations (many fans give more and many give less but are at a point in their life that what they are paying is still substantial). I give up my time and other opportunities to make sure I'm at the games, I schedule my work schedule around never having a conflict with a BYU game. I do this because I love the Cougars. I get misty eyed at how awesome BYU is and how electric of an atmosphere a packed LES is. It's this same insane passion that makes fans boo, it's a knee jerk reaction, a crime of passion, they do it out of love, and extreme and irrational desire for our loved Cougars to succeed.
Do I think the guy booing is annoying? Often yes, but I'll take nearly 65,000 passionate fans (that sometimes get frustrated and yell/boo) then the alternative of a a fan base that excludes and cuts out the crazies.
Summed up I welcome all fans, the crazy coach from the stands guy, guys that boo, guys that drink booze, and guys that are old enough to remember when booze were illegal in this country. If they want to love the cougs, pay for the program, and come to the games to be a part of the greatness than I say come.
Go cougs! Let's get some wins so we have new topics on here.
