He did play very poorly against Michigan and UCLA........
And the start of the game vs. Utah was dismal, but I don't think it's fair to say he "didn't accomplish much as a Freshman". Setting freshman records for yards and touchdowns is pretty significant. He led the team to an 8-4 record (if you don't give him credit for Nebraska) against a decent schedule.
I agree that he had improvements to be made, but you make it sound like he sucked.
