I think we're getting closer

There are 8 team conferences as well. And several 12+ conferences have first round byes. There are even 2 "double bye" conferences, meaning that they only have to win 2 games.

Without parsing it entirely too closely, it seems about equal. Particularly because in basketball, you actually have to win your way to the Sweet 16, whereas in football, a product of weak scheduling can and often does factor into getting an NY6.

I guess what I'm saying is, even if we go with 4.8 vs. 6, that's pretty darn close, close enough to call it equal, and again, moreso because you have to win your way there.
