all over the place at each positon group on teh field..(most) including QB..
He played against rising,not yet reaching top 30 Utah and TCU;;
He played against a solid, but not great MWC who had very few good QB's in it at the time....

After ending a season ranked,,the next year BYU would start ranked..which in the beauty contest of College football is important amd then with all that talent adn not soo stiff competeteion, would blow through the MWC and go 102 with favorable schedules.

Then things changed.. TCU/UTAH got better.
His recruits started showing up and were worse.
He stopped recrutiing nfl talent.

The schedule got tougher..ooin some ways and thus the 10 wins went out the window and BIG losses s or head scratching losses started piling up....and UTAH started PWNing him.
