What if Obama had behaved this way, and said the things Trump says on a regular basis. Do you really think the media would have just let it go? Conversely, do you think conservatives would have excused it the way many of them are doing for Trump?

No way, the Right would have gone crazy if Obama had done the same things Trump is doing, while the media reaction would have been largely the same, IMO.

And to be fair, many Dems who are attacking Trump today would have surely defended Obama, had he exhibited Trump-like behavior. Partisans are partisans, on all sides.
