The Olympic peninsula is awesome.
Definitely go. Since you love camping and backpacking, definitely do the Cape Alava loop and camp on the beach. It's an easy 9 mile loop. 3 miles through the rainforest to the beach. 3 miles down the beach. 3 miles back through the forest. Totally awesome. The beaches are spectacular.

To me this isn't camping. Camping is hiking 4 miles to get to your campsite. That's just what I grew up with though
