It's not about that shot going in, that shot requires more time to get off, It's like a QB with a long wind up. That shot will make him easy to defend.

The second part of it is work ethic. The way his father behaves screams entitlement. He might be able to shed the entitlement issues that his father has gifted him, but I'm predicting he won't be able to do it. And because of that, he won't work hard enough to fix his shot and go through the pain and ridicule he will take while he fixes his shot and struggles in the NBA during that time.
