The speed was acceptable and still faster than a pump. The whole package, meaning the dirty water bag, hose and filter, were lighter than pumps I have used in the past.

My brother and I will be using it on a trip in August and we plan on using it for all of our filtering. It's fast enough to use while taking a quick five minute break on the trail next to a river or creek. If you are going to use it for every single scout, you'll take a little longer, but again, the flow rate is really good.
