I like the katadyn 10L better. It's simpler and holds a ton of water.
I've used it exclusively for backpacking and it's slick to have hanging on a tree in camp to refill water bottles and do dishes with. I like it more because of the added capacity and simplicity of design vs the platypus. A good gravity filter with 1-2 pump filters is perfect for a group
