Athletically both players are very similar, but that is where the similarities end.
Leifson is a little taller than Beo, which makes a difference. But here's where the real differences are.
Beo is a set shooter with a slow release. To be a contributor at BYU he would have to completely remake his shot which is an almost impossible thing to do at this point in his basketball career.
Leifson is a jump shooter with a much quicker release. To be a consistent contributor at BYU he simply needs to work harder on D, but that has more to do with learning good D fundamentals than anything else.
Beo simply struggled to find the space needed to get his shot off last season. Leifson's issues are different, but much more easily fixable.
Do I want Leifson back at BYU, sure. But I won't be heartbroken if he doesn't play again at BYU.
