How many teams in the country do you believe can win in a pseudo road game against LSU or beat a top 10 Wisconsin team?

How many teams do you think give Utah a beatdown (especially when BYU hasn't beaten Utah 8 years or given them an actual beatdown in 20 years)? When was the last time Utah got thumped by anyone, period?

How would the best teams in BYU history (1984, 1996, 2006, 2009, etc) do against this type of start? The 1984 team only played one ranked team in Pitt who struggled and had a losing record. The 1996 finished 2-1 against P5 opponents (UW, A&M, Kansas State). The 2006 struggled to a 1-2 start losing to a good BC team and an average Arizona team. The 2009 beat ranked Oklahoma, Utah, and Oregon State but got thumped by an average FSU team and thumped by TCU (both at home).

Just to get to 2-2 will require BYU to win a game that they almost always lose (super athletic and ranked LSU or a top 10 Wisconsin) or they haven't done in quite some time (beat Utah).

As much as we may hate to admit it, simply beating Utah is progress. Getting back to 10-11 wins would be progress. Being ranked again would be progress. Dominating Utah and beating LSU/Wisconsin would be incredible progress.

If our fan base (or even parts of our fan base) really expect BYU to be a top 15 team year in and year out, we are going to have some pretty disappointed fans. We may also run off a promising young coach simply because he can't compete with the Stanford's and Auburn's and Georgia's off the world as a conservative religious university with a strict honor code and no P5 money or perks.
