in a league dominated by guards. The future is looking good for the NBA. Mitchell also looks like he has All Star potential.
I am not as sold on Fox as I was before summer league. He has problems getting into his jumper during games -- it looks really awkward and uncomfortable. He looks smooth warming up, but once the game starts, he struggles to go straight up and release all in one motion. He takes a weird crab step to the right. He is an elite defender with all that fast twitch muscle though.
Somebody has been changing Fultz release. Before he got hurt, his release was more out front with less wrist. He was understandably struggling with it. For the life of me, I don't get why anyone messes with a rookie' s shot if there is nothing wrong with it. Rookies have enough to worry about. You want to tweak his shot, wait until after the year or send him to the G league (which obviously you aren't going to do with Fultz). Reminds me of when some consultant changed Jimmer' s shot his rookie year to get a quicker release. Fultz also loves the spin move too much. He has a knack for finishing in traffic, but NBA rim protectors will figure out where the ball appears after he is done spinning.
Smith is just unbelievable. I was there on Saturday when he was putting on his pregame dunking show. His hops look different. He explodes so quickly and then just hangs forever. He had two driving, left handed layups where he was so high and under control, no big could come close to defending him. He just floated clear of the last big and softly laid it in like it was nothing. Mark Cuban looked so fired up watching Smith.
