Van Noy wasn't kicked out of another school & then recruited to BYU. He was a BYU commit that coaches worked with and gave a second chance to.
There have been a number of players like that over the years. Who have gotten in trouble at BYU and been put on probation, suspended or even expelled - only to have BYU work with them and help them return to full participation.
I honestly can't think of any players who were kicked off a team somewhere else due to behavioral issues and was then recruited and admitted to BYU. Maybe it's happened, I just don't remember it.
That aside, it's ok for kids to get second chances. It's also ok for them to have consequences for their actions.
Like getting kicked out of school and having to go to a school like Utah instead. 😉
