You sound like someone in an apartment jealous of the people in nice houses
and trying to make yourself feel better by telling yourself that these people can't afford them either and if they were really smart they'd be living in an apartment like you are. The truth is they're making a ton more money than you and if the money slows down, your money will slow down too making you just as relatively poor now as you will be then.

I disagree- I think other schools are willing to spend more than they should. There is a lot of things AD departments
