The poster formerly known as chubbychaser is correct.
if you are cooking a 14lb brisket for 6-8 hours, just chuck it in the trash and go out to eat. Without a smoker you are almost in the same trouble. If I were you, I would put it in an oven bag, turn the oven on medium heat and cook it for 14-15 hours....or more. Then say a prayer that it is edible.
