I'm hesitant to post anything on this subject because it has been discussed ad nauseam, but I will.
Emery comes from a fairly wealthy family. If his parents were willing, he could have afforded to go to all of those concerts and amusement parks without the aid of a booster.
Much of the time with NCAA infractions, the NCAA is worried about boosters wooing high school/college kids with perks they have never experienced. That is not present with the Emery situation. I'm not saying that is good or bad - just different. It'll be interesting to see how the NCAA comes down when the situation is different from the normal narrative (few poor kids could afford to pay back the perks so easily Emery allegedly received).
It should be noted that I'm rooting for Emery. I hope he gets feeling better and comes back stronger as player, whether it be with BYU or not. I couldn't have handled a divorce at that early age and having all of my dirty laundry aired before everyone with a keyboard/smartphone.
