Maytag, Whirlpool, Amana, Jennair and KitchenAid are all part of the Whirlpool family. All the DWs are manufactured in the same factory. Amana is marketed as budget, Maytag & Whirlpool are your mid-level, and Jennair & KitchenAid are marketed as your high-end product.

All the Maytag DWs have the disposal so they are a decibel or two noisier but still relatively quiet. Also the decibel rating is the highest decibel reached during the cycle and is not constantly at that noise level.

Many dishwashers are so quiet once you are in the 40s Db range that you will have more noise as the water drains from the DW into the disposal/sink than from the actual machine making noise.
