My son was not accepted to BYU-Provo out of high school. While on his mission, he put in for BYU-Hawaii and was accepted there. He graduated in 3 semesters with his associates degree and then, put in for BYU-P as a transfer student with an associates degree. It helped that his associates was from another BYU school and he was accepted to Provo for winter semester. Getting an associates already helps in the transfer process, along with attending another LDS school.
