be the trendsetter who first grows out of teenage ritual one upsmanship. Just treat her great, show gratitude for her efforts, and focus his efforts on making the dance a great time.

If he absolutely has to make a splash in his response, why not something classy and professional? How do professionals express appreciation to each other.

I totally get your sentiment and applaud the intentions, but kids put way too much pressure on themselves to one up one another with outrageous antics rather than practing old fashioned manners and courtesy. I second going old school.
